Gotta say, this is one of the most "different yet same" DR inspired games I've played yet. Loads of potential, some pretty solid character intros, and a sense of danger I haven't really felt from a lot of other fan projects. A lot of KGs seem to play around with "Going to make you kill each other", but this game's really manage to make this feel like a life-or-death survival situation at the end.
One thought though, maybe pull back a bit on the teleporting from scene to scene? I get some of the events going in a specific order, but it would be nice walking between scenes to break up the text a bit. Maybe just have Maru decide she wants to go in seasonal order and say not to go in the other ones if the order's wrong. XD
There will sadly not be anymore walking, it will probably be even more linear CH1 and onwards.
Like we mentioned previously we are limiting interactivity for the sake of testing & writing being easier and less bugs having the possibility of showing up.
If our goal wasn't to create 6 chapters + this prologue we would be open to create more interactivity, but since we are simply a volunteer team we have to set certain boundaries to make all of this possible.
Hi, I wanted to leave a little critique on this prologue. I know some fans may see this as an unjust attack, but I hope that if the dev team reads this, they understand that I'm coming from a sincere place as a fellow writer and creative, even though this is going to sound harsh. Although I commend the fact that this project was able to see the light of day despite everything that happened, and I appreciate the obvious effort put into this game. However, everything else about this fell short for me:
The writing, specifically the dialogue, is generally not very pleasant. Nearly every character has at least one voiceline that's using a common meme phrase said online, even the more relatively "normal" characters do this. It just ages your game so much. Relying on references as a stand-in for comedy is just not good writing. Speaking of comedy, when characters swear every other line it just loses its impact so fast. I'm sure you've heard of a certain cartoon that got criticized for the same thing.(I know, harsh comparison, but it got memed on for a reason)
This is something that might be seen more as an opinion, but whatever. The voicelines (the short exclamations, not the fully voiced dialogue) of the characters are jarringly frequent. I feel like it could benefit from having them speak less frequently.
The characters are also overall very unpleasant. There is no real harmony or sense of blossoming friendships or rivalries between any of them. I know that they're not going to all hold hands in a killing game, and that this is only the prologue, but it is still very foreboding. In the original Danganronpa series, they were still able to forge bonds, which made when the characters die or betray each other all the more impactful. (I cried a shameful amount of times during certain trials lmao) It feels like a majority of the characters are only sarcastic and snarky with each other. It makes everything feel irony-poisoned and insincere. Nothing feels genuine. Everyone is putting on the same mask.
I wanted to also list out things I did like, so that people don't think I'm only trying to attack on the game:
Like I said before, it's obviously commendable that this project was able to push through its difficulties, and it's clear that there was a lot of effort put into this game.
The art is also really well done and gets the style down well, especially the CGs, which are particularly gorgeous.
The music is also pretty good.
The accomplice gimmick is very cool, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how that pans out. I have high hopes!
Even if you don't agree with all of my criticisms, I hope you can at least consider what I'm saying. I'm also aware that I'm writing all of this about a free game that is being made by volunteers, and that there was a lot of turmoil during its production and therefore leaves some room to cut you guys some slack on certain things, but even so, I don't think this makes it immune from criticism. I want to take your game seriously. I want to be invested! I'm sure you want your audience to be invested too.
thank you for taking the time to write out such a detailed message.
As long as people are respectful in their phrasing we welcome both positive and negative feedback. However I hope you also understand that due to criticism being very subjective in nature it is impossible for us to take everything into account that we hear. You are valid in disliking the parts you mentioned about the writing, but we've funnily also received many people mentioning these exact points being a reason they enjoyed the game so much.
Nonetheless I will send this criticism along to our writer staff, but I ask you to understand that they have the decision in how to shape their work. Since this is a volunteer project it is important to me to leave freedom to our staff to express themselves in a way that they're the most motivated about. It is their choice which criticism they will take into account and which not, I will not influence that.
Our game isn't perfect and that's okay, you are free to dislike it and do not need to feel bad about it. I do hope you find other projects/ games that are more to your taste! Though I do appreciate you mentioning the positives as well, thank you!
I must say I loved it. I'm really looking forward to playing Chapter 1 and seeing what interesting things happen. I wish you the best of luck in the development and hope I can play it soon.
Downloaded it, extracted the files and everything but my computer wouldn't let me open it, said it was unrecognized and could be dangerous. Any way to fix this? It didn't give me an option to open it.
Windows is always going to give you a potential Virus warning for any unlicensed software.
As we are a nonprofit volunteer project it would not be worth it to buy an official game license, which is why you will have to simply ignore the Virus warning.
There should be an option to open the .exe nonetheless in the Warning screen. Just click that and you are good to go.
I understand that we are simply a person on the internet, so I do not judge you for being too careful. You can always check out our youtube playthrough recording as well!
I'm not one of the devs, but if you use the shortcut Shift + Windows Key and then either the left or right arrow key, you can send a window to your other monitor.

Hyped for the first chapter!
Glad you enjoyed the game Narrator!

Does it have Japanese VA?
No!
This is AMAZING. Unlike some other fangans, this one has a great balance between inspiration and originality.
The designs, variety, comedic events, everything is geared towards the right audience. The stable diffusion joke really stuck with me.
The puzzles were unique, the game rules, the mascot, the soundtrack, all original, but with that Danganronpa touch that we all love.
Hi, I already downloaded and played it.
I must say I loved it. I'm really looking forward to playing Chapter 1 and seeing what interesting things happen. I wish you the best of luck in the development and hope I can play it soon.

LETS GOOOO! im loving this game and visuals <3
I'm excited to play it, I've seen the art for awhile and I've thought it looks amazing!
will this game ever be playable on Mac?
Sorry no. Since we are a volunteer team, making a port that is proven to work on Mac would allocate too much of our time.
You can always watch our recorded playthrough on our youtube channel though!!
how do i download this? do i need to extract the files?
Yes, you need to unzip the file you downloaded.
Is there any way of switching which monitor to play on? It seems to only open on my second monitor...
I'm not one of the devs, but if you use the shortcut Shift + Windows Key and then either the left or right arrow key, you can send a window to your other monitor.
